Frank Thomas (the original) regaled us with tales of baseball in the 1950s. Brian Englehardt told of when the Pirates played the Reading team, and Joe Elinich reported on games pitched between Harvey Haddix and Lew Burdette other than the 13-inning, near-perfect game.
The highlight of the meeting was a visit from the Pirates’ National League Manager of the Year Clint Hurdle. Clint was presented with a check for $150 for his “Wins For Kids” charity.
The meeting concluded with a trivia contest provided by Jim Haller.
