The back of card number 42 in the set reads, "Vern Bickford Pitcher - Boston Braves Born: Hellier, Ky., Aug. 17, 1920 Height: 6 ft. Weight: 180 Bats: Right Throws: Right Pitched the League's only no-hitter of 1950 in game with Dodgers, Aug. 11. Vern's record was 19-14. He tied for leadership in starting games (39). Pitched most complete games (27), the most innings (312), faced the most batsmen (1,325). Had 16-11 record in 1949. In rookie year, 1948, Vern was on the mound in the game that insured the pennant for the Braves. With Milwaukee during 1947. No. 42 in the 1951 series Baseball Picture Cards Reprint 1986 C.C.C."
