The back of card number 317 in the set reads, "Forrest Burgess Catcher - Chicago Cubs Born: Caroleen, N.C., Feb. 6, 1927 Height: 5-8 Weight: 171 Bats: Left Throws: Right Adds tremendous hitting power to skill as backstopper. In 88 games for the Cubs' Springfield farm in 1950. Batted .327. Discovered playing Legion ball in North Carolina. Said to have batted around .780 in 3 seasons of Legion tournaments. Signed by Cubs after graduating from high school. Sent to Lockport of the Pony League. Hit .325. Hitting at .400 clip before entering Army, '45.
