The back of card number 101 in the set reads, "Owen Friend Second Base - St. Louis Browns Born: Granite City, Ill., Mar. 21, 1927 Height: 6-1 Weight: 180 Bats: Right Throws: Right Owen was inducted into the Army at the end of the 1950 season in which he batted .237 in 119 games. Drove in 50 runs. Joined the Browns in the closing days of the 1949 season, appearing in 2 games. Began in organized baseball with Newark of the Ohio State League in 1944. Saw action with 7 different teams. These included Memphis, Raleigh, Elmira, Springfield. No. 101 in the 1951 series Baseball Picture Cards Reprint 1986 C.C.C."
