Voted the outstanding freshman in American Association in 1949. Batted .317 for Milwaukee. Collected 203 hits, including 27 doubles, 8 triples, 12 homers. Drove in 86 runs, and scored 120. Stole 13 bases. Led the league in runs scored and in total hits. Had 471 putouts, the most by an AA 2nd sacker since 1927. In the service, 1943-1946.
