A 1986 Card Collectors 1950 Bowman (Reprint) baseball card of Gene Bearden. The back of card number 93 in the set reads, "Gene Bearden Pitcher - Cleveland Indians Born : Lexa, Ark., Sept. 5, 1920 Height : 6-3 1/2 Weight : 204 Bats : Left Throws : Left Gene had an off-season in 1949, just breaking even with 8 and 8. In 1948 he won 20 and lost 7. His 20th win was in the playoff game against the Red Sox which won the pennant for the Indians. Was a hero in the ensuing World's Series. Gene was badly wounded in torpedoing of "Helena" during war. Doctors feared he might not walk again. No. 93 in the 1950 Series of Baseball Picture Cards Reprint © 1950 Bowman Gum, Inc., Phila., Pa., U.S.A." A circular Bowman logo is in the upper right corner. Text on the outside of the circle reads," Picture Card Collectors Club", and inside reads, "5 Star Bowman Series". Five stars are connected by their points and form a pentagon in the middle.
