A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Hank Sauer. The back of card number 45 in the set reads, "45 - Hank Sauer Outfield - Cincinnati Reds Born : Pittsburgh, Pa. March 17, 1919 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 6 : 3 1/2 Weight : 202 One of the best sluggers in the National League Hank has his sights on Babe Ruth's home run record. Was with Reds in 1941, but was sent back to minors. After Coast Guard service he returned to Reds. Spent 1947 season with Syracuse of International League and hit sensationally. He batted .336, led in runs batted in 141; most his 182; most runs 130; and most total bases, 362. In addition he hit 50 home runs. He was voted Internationa League's Most Valuable Player.
