Isaac C. Brooks Jr.

Isaac C. Brooks Jr. (Ike) has a keen interest in learning more about and sharing with others the contributions made by African Americans and other people of color to baseball. Since 2006 at the urging of friends, former Negro League players, and their families, he has made numerous presentations regarding this sometimes-forgotten group and their impact and influence on America’s pastime. Beginning in 2020, coincidental with the COVID-19 global pandemic, he began a collaboration with the Community Cup Classic Foundation of Northeast Ohio on a series of multigenerational programs showcasing the challenging, historic, and triumphant legacy of baseball’s Negro Leagues and the African American experience in baseball. The aim is to strengthen connections among and between people by fostering meaningful conversations about race, equity, and history. Throughout 2025 several monthly “Negro League Soul” series offerings were scheduled to pay tribute to the 80th anniversary of the Cleveland Buckeyes’ 1945 World Series championship.
