SABR Member Benefit Spotlight: New Research Resources Portal and Member Login
JANUARY 27, 2026 — As a SABR member, you have vast resources and benefits at your disposal. With so much information at your fingertips, we realize it can be overwhelming to absorb it all! To highlight key benefits, read on for a SABR Member Benefit Spotlight, an email series that identifies and explains some of the most valuable features of your membership. We hope this allows you to take full advantage of all SABR has to offer. Today’s issue shows you how to access the newly designed Research Resources page.
RESEARCH RESOURCES
Next week, we will launch a newly designed and updated Research Resources page at SABR.org. You can find it by going directly to The Research Collection page or by using the “Research” dropdown menu at the top of any SABR.org page.
All SABR members have exclusive access to online resources to aid in your research and deepen the exploration of your baseball fandom. These resources include the Historical Black Newspapers Collection and US Newspapers Collection through ProQuest; the Newspapers.com World Collection; and The Sporting News Archives through Paper of Record. Normally, access to these fantastic resources would cost over $250 annually, but they are included as a complimentary benefit of your SABR membership!
SABR members also have special access to two large collections exclusively at SABR.org: the Weiss Baseball Questionnaires (nearly 100,000 self-completed surveys from baseball players between 1945 and 2005) and the MLB Team Employee Database (recently updated with 2025 MLB teams and Negro Leagues team employees.)
Please note: SABR members must log in to access any of these members-only collections.
ADDITIONAL SABR RESOURCES
The new Research Resources page also offers a range of additional guides, archives, and databases organized by subject matter — from Biographical to Minor Leagues to Statistics/Records.
These collections include the Baseball Magazine and Sporting Life archives, Business of Baseball files (including collective bargaining agreements), Federal League case files, Lahman Baseball Database, Landmarks Baseball Map, Minor League No-Hitters, Nineteenth Century League and Team Resources, Sporting News Baseball Player Contract Cards Collection, Triple Plays Database, and much more.
PUBLIC RESOURCES
The new Research Resources page also includes an extensive list of publicly available websites and resources found online. You can scroll down to find them at the bottom of the page.
These links are also organized by subject matter and include the Baseball Hall of Fame and Library, Baseball Prospectus, Baseball-Reference, Baseball Savant, Center for Canadian Baseball Research, FanGraphs, Internet Archive, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Nisei Baseball Research Project, Retrosheet, Seamheads Negro Leagues Database, and more.
NEW: MEMBER LOGIN
When the Research Resources page launches next week, we’ll also be rolling out a new promotional ad at SABR.org to help encourage other baseball fans to sign up for a monthly or annual membership.
As a SABR member, you can click the gold “Login now” link in order to sign in and remove the pop-up for the rest of your browser session. You must log in with your SABR credentials in order to access these additional resources.
