2026 executives, college baseball staffs added to SABR MLB Team Employee Database
JULY 21, 2026 — SABR’s historical database of Major League Baseball team employees has been recently updated to include entries from the 2026 season and to add new entries for thousands of coaches and staff members employed by college baseball teams dating to the late nineteenth century. The SABR MLB Team Employee Database, published through SABR’s Business of Baseball Committee, offers a unique lens into major league front and back offices, from team owners to ticket sales.
Exclusive to SABR members, the MLB Team Employee Database is available for viewing to all SABR members on the Research Resources page. Browse or search by person, team, or season to learn more about the scope of baseball and business operations.
Major additions to the database include employees from all 2026 MLB team media guides, as well as a new feature that includes employees of major college baseball programs, going back to the earliest days of collegiate play in the late 1800s. College team employees are also mapped to the Person IDs for their professional baseball jobs, where applicable. Select the “Person Years” menu at the top of the site and use the “Dept/Non-MLB Team” field to search for specific college baseball programs.
The new release also contains enhanced database search capabilities and a new query that compiles the number of years employees appear in the database, in a leadership board format. This project piloted the use of artificial intelligence to assist in automating the capture of employee information from team media guides, with promising results that can be applied to future efforts.
The full MLB Team Employee Database database now includes 66,000 employees from the major leagues, Negro Leagues, and colleges, representing over 431,000 person-years.
The 2026 MLB team employee entries were completed by the following SABR members: Ken Carrano, Kevin Koopman, Mark McFadden, Grant Milner, Chad Moody, Ian Ruedinger, Joe Wancho, Bryan Walko, and Richard Cuicchi.
Bryan Walko researched, compiled, and imported all college team employees into the database, which was initially launched at SABR.org in 2024. He also provided technical support to maintain the entire database for SABR. Contact Richard Cuicchi for questions and to volunteer for ongoing efforts to update the database.
