Boston Chapter meeting recap – 8/29/2026
About 20 SABR Boston Chapter members, friends, and family enjoyed a gorgeous sunny afternoon on August 29, 2026, at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts. The chapter arranged for seats in the Big Blue Bug Batter’s Box, a special field-level seating area next to the home dugout, as the Worcester Red Sox took on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders – a Red Sox vs. Yankees farm-team matchup.
Attendees got to come onto the field before the game. The PA announcer introduced the group and explained SABR’s mission to the fans, encouraging them to check out the SABR website for more information. Members, friends, and family also enjoyed a buffet meal of hot dogs, hamburgers, sides, and drinks. And we got to see Trevor Story, Roman Anthony, Isaiah Kiner- Falefa, Anthony Volpe, and other notable big-leaguers.
Just about the day’s only shortcoming was the game result, as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre cruised to a 9-1 win with Worcester’s backup catcher pitching the ninth inning. Still, turnout was great, the weather was perfect, and we’ll have to plan some more Chapter ballpark trips in the future.
