Cleveland, Ohio – The judges for the McFarland-SABR Baseball Research Award are pleased to announce that this year’s winners are (in random order) Charlie Bevis for “Rocky Point: A Lone Outpost of Sunday Baseball in Sabbatarian New England;” Gregory Bond for “Too Much Dirty Work: Race, Manliness And Basebal Cleveland, Ohio – The judges for the McFarland-SABR Baseball Research Award are pleased to announce that this year’s winners are (in random order) Charlie Bevis for “Rocky Point: A Lone Outpost of Sunday Baseball in Sabbatarian New England;” Gregory Bond for “Too Much Dirty Work: Race, Manliness And Baseball In Gilded Age Nebraska;” and James Forr: “Pie Traynor.” The McFarland-SABR Baseball Research Award honors the authors of the best articles or papers, published or unpublished, on baseball history or biography completed during the preceding calendar year.
