Students, apply now for a SABR digital publishing internship in Spring 2019
SABR is looking for interns to support our publishing program in the spring of 2019.
SABR has always published books on baseball history and analysis, and in recent years our program has expanded to 12 or more book-length publications per year, in addition to three journal issues. The publications department brings together researchers, writers, editors, designers, and others from all over the globe, managed remotely from our Publications Director’s home office in the Boston area.
What will SABR publishing interns do and learn? Interns will assist in the entire book and journal publishing process. Tasks will include proofreading, manuscript preparation, writing descriptive copy, working with authors, photo research and selection, ebook production, design, and even some tasks related to marketing and publicizing the books.
Interns will work directly with SABR’s Publications Director, Cecilia Tan, who works from a home office in Cambridge, Massachusetts, near Porter Square (Red Line T accessible.)
This is a great internship for anyone who wants to gain experience in the book business or digital publishing, and who loves baseball!

- Your resume
- Cover letter describing your interest in baseball, book publishing, or digital publishing
- A nonfiction writing sample of up to 5 pages
- Your prediction for who will win MVP of the 2019 All Star Game and a paragraph on why you chose that player.
We will follow up with phone interviews for the top candidates.
Time Commitment:
The spring internship period will run from February 1 through May 10 (approximately 12 weeks) and will require a time commitment of 6-8 hours per week. Priority will be given to interns who can work at least one afternoon per week on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Remote interns will be considered if there are no local candidates suitable.
This internship is unpaid. Interns will be expected to leave the internship after 12 weeks with numerous skills and knowledge they did not previously possess, with letters of recommendation from their supervisor.
