Oscar Andrés López Sánchez
/in /by wpadminOscar Andrés López Sánchez, a distinguished scholar, holds an M.Sc. and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. At present he is a professor-researcher at the Institute of Materials and Structural Models (IMME) within the Faculty of Engineering at the Central University of Venezuela, where he has demonstrated his expertise. He has made substantial contributions to the academic world, boasting a portfolio of 70 articles published in both national and international journals, alongside an extensive collection of articles presented at conferences. His advisory role extends to several esteemed national and international institutions in matters of seismic engineering. Particularly noteworthy is his coordination of the team responsible for the development of Venezuela’s seismic-resistant construction standard in 2019. He is a four-time recipient of the national award for outstanding scientific contributions in technological research. He is also recognized for his publication in SABR’s Baseball Research Journal, in which he explored the intricacies of Andres Galarraga’s monumental home run. He is the co-author of the book The Physics of Baseball (2022). He holds the esteemed position of membership in the Academy of Engineering and Habitat of Venezuela (Sillón XXXV).
