Auker-Seminick Chapter meeting recap 9/24/2011
More than 20 members of the Auker-Seminick Chapter in Central Florida met September 24, 2011, at Tropicana Field prior to the Toronto-Tampa Bay game.
Tampa Bay Rays TV play-by-play announcer Dewayne Staats discussed his career in baseball broadcasting, including stories about former partners Harry Caray, Gene Elston, Milo Hamilton and Bob Prince. Author Peter Golenbock previewed a chapter on the Yankee Empire, his current book in progress. Mark Stang presented a photo history of the Boston Red Sox from his latest book.
Jim Satterly of DeLand, Florida, and chapter co-chair Dave Larson, of Apopka, Florida, led a lively discussion on “The Hall of Fame or the Hall of Good?”, weighing the credentials of recently retired and current major leaguers whose records merit consideration by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
