Bob Broeg Chapter meeting recap – 7/18/2011
Twenty members met at the usual location, Crusoe’s Original Restaurant in South St. Louis, for the July 18 monthly roundtable of the Bob Broeg St. Louis Chapter.
The membership agreed to sell the remaining caps and T-shirts from the 2007 SABR convention held in St. Louis. The all-red caps will sell for $5 each and all-white shirts for $10.
Overall, Bob Broeg members who attended the recent SABR Convention in Long Beach, California, gave it a B+.
The membership decided to invite Fox broadcaster Joe Buck, who grew up in St. Louis, to a monthly roundtable after the baseball season ends.
Cardinals’ needs for the stretch drive of the 2011 season were discussed, but there was no consensus on any player moves the membership feels the Cardinals’ management should make before the July 31 trading deadline.
Chapter vice-president Mark Stangl won the monthly trivia quiz, compiled by Bob Tiemann. This month’s theme was members of the 3,000-hit club. Stangl scored 28 out of a possible 40 points.
The next monthly roundtable is Monday, Aug. 15, at Crusoe’s.
