Field of Dreams Chapter meeting recap – 5/21/2017
Fourteen Field of Dreams Chapter members and guests gathered in Suite 314 at Principal Park in Des Moines on Sunday, May 21, 2017, for a chapter meeting and Iowa Cubs baseball game.
We had a terrific guest speaker, Tommy Birch from the Des Moines Register. Birch covers the Iowa Cubs for the Register, and he offered insights into the life of baseball at the Triple-A level. Although covering a minor-league club may not be as glamorous as the same job in the Majors, it sounds like Birch still has a great time at his job.

Thanks to Steve Elsberry for arranging for Birch to stop by, and for arranging the suite. The Tacoma Rainiers topped the I-Cubs 8 to 7 in a game that featured six home runs.
