Juan Marichal Chapter meeting recap – 12/14/2020
With the participation of ten of its members, SABR’s Juan Marichal Chapter in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, had a zoom meeting on Monday, December 14, 2020, with Luis Rojas, manager of the New York Mets.
For 75 minutes, Rojas answered questions and related his experience in the Mets organization and the emotions generated by his first year as manager of the New York team and the situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit New York very hard and other parts of the United States and the world.
Coming from a family with strong ties with baseball, that began with his father Felipe Alou, former player and manager of the San Francisco Giants and other teams, Luis Rojas was familiar with baseball since he was very young and after a short career as a player, decided managing was his field of action.
He is very enthusiastic about the upcoming season, with the changes in the organization, a new owner and a renovation at the top positions in the administration.
The Mets are acquiring new players and becoming stronger for this season, in which he hopes to qualify for the postseason.
