Rogers Hornsby Chapter-North meeting recap – 9/19/2015

From Don Bolding at the Waco Tribune on September 20, 2015:

A 21-year veteran major league pitcher was the main attraction at an informal forum designed to provide a day of educational fun for local baseball fans Saturday.

The event also was an attempt to identify people interested in starting a local chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research, said organizer David Skelton, of Woodway.

He said up to 50 people attended for some part of events Saturday in the auditorium of McLennan Community College’s Emergency Services Education Center. He said some indicated an interest in the nationwide group by leaving their contact information.

“The organization is designed for fellowship, research and public information among people with a passion for the history of baseball,” he said. “I noticed there was no chapter between Dallas and Austin, and some of us tried to start a chapter in the Waco area three years ago, but there wasn’t enough interest. I hope we can get something going this time around.”
