2013 GIBBY Awards unveiled at Winter Meetings

The 2013 GIBBY Awards were unveiled on Tuesday at the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Every club was well represented, and there were plenty of deserving nominees in every award category.
Below is a list of the winners.
Rookie of the Year: Marlins RHP Jose Fernandez
Defensive Player of the Year: Cardinals C Yadier Molina
Hitter of the Year: Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera
Setup Man of the Year: Pirates RHP Mark Melancon
Executive of the Year: Red Sox GM Ben Cherington
Cut4 Topic of the Year: Blue Jays SS Munenori Kawasaki‘s postgame interview
Comeback Player of the Year: Pirates LHP Francisco Liriano
Manager of the Year: John Farrell (Red Sox)
Breakout Hitter of the Year: Orioles 1B Chris Davis
Hitting Performance of the Year: Angels OF Mike Trout (hit for cycle vs. Mariners on May 25)
Walk-off of the Year: Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (scored on wild pitch to secure Henderson Alvarez no-hitter)
Oddity of the Year: Rockies 1B Todd Helton and Rays 3B Evan Longoria (pulled off separate hidden-ball tricks)
Closer of the Year: Braves RHP Craig Kimbrel
Postseason MVP: Red Sox DH David Ortiz (.353, 5 HR, 13 RBIs)
Moment of the Year: Red Sox’s emotional Boston Marathon tribute (April 20)
Lifetime Achievement Award: Yankees RHP Mariano Rivera
Breakout Pitcher of the Year: Mets RHP Matt Harvey
Starting Pitcher of the Year: Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw
Pitching Performance of the Year: Giants RHP Tim Lincecum (13-strikeout no-hitter vs. SD, July 13)
Storyline of the Year: Pirates (returned to playoffs for first time since 1992)
Postseason Moment of the Year: Cardinals 1B Allen Craig (scored on obstruction call in World Series Game 3)
Play of the Year: Orioles 3B Manny Machado (off-balance throw at Yankee Stadium on July 7)
MLB MVP: Cabrera

MLB’s A-listers took home GIBBYs trophies, the ultimate honor of baseball’s awards season, on Tuesday at the Winter Meetings. The selections were based on voting by media, front-office personnel, MLB alumni, fans at MLB.com and the Society for American Baseball Research.
