Carey: Replacement Level Podcast with former Red Sox Todd Walker
From SABR member Ross Carey at Replacement Level Podcast on August 16, 2013:
On this episode of the Replacement Level Podcast former MLB second baseman Todd Walker joined me to discuss his career. Todd talked about winning the College World Series with LSU in 1993, getting drafted by the Twins, playing through the minors, and his first Major League game.
Todd spoke about his approach to hitting which he called “educated guesswork”. He described hitting as a chess match versus the pitcher and explained what in game adjustments he made from one at-bat to the next.
Todd also discussed playing in the 2003 ALCS, and what his reaction was when Grady left Pedro in the game.
Todd provided some insights on some of his former teammates and contemporaries including Manny Ramirez, Ken Griffey Jr, Pedro Martinez, and Roger Clemens.
