Federal League of Base Ball Clubs Wins SABR

The Deadball Era Committee of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) is pleased to announce that Robert Peyton Wiggins has won the 2010 Larry Ritter Award for his book The Federal League of Base Ball Clubs (McFarland). The award is given annually to the best book focusing on the Deadball Era published in the previous calendar year.

The Deadball Era Committee of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) is pleased to announce that Robert Peyton Wiggins has won the 2010 Larry Ritter Award for his book The Federal League of Base Ball Clubs (McFarland). The award is given annually to the best book focusing on the Deadball Era published in the previous calendar year. The other finalists for the Ritter award were Sean Deveney’s The Original Curse (McGraw-Hill) and Mike Vaccaro’s The First Fall Classic (Doubleday). Wiggins will receive his award at the Deadball Era Committee meeting at the SABR national convention August 5-8 at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, GA.
