Newly selected Hall of Famer Joe Gordon is one of over 900 ballplayers with a full biography available online through SABR’s BioProject. A former second baseman, Gordon was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday by a 12-member Veterans Committee comprised of Hall members and baseball historians that studied pre-1943 players. Gordon is best known as a member of the New York Yankees, for whom he played from 1938 to 1946, although he was also a part of the Cleveland Indians team that won the World Series in 1948.

Gordon has the distinction of being selected for every All-Star Game from 1939 to 1949, except for 1944 and 1945, when he served in the Army during World War II. Gordon retired from baseball in 1950.
