Mariners prospect Hogan Windish hits four home runs for Arkansas Travelers

Hogan Windish (MiLB.com)Seattle Mariners prospect Hogan Windish became the sixth player in Texas League history to hit four home runs in a single game, driving in nine runs for the Class AA Arkansas Travelers on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, against the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field in Springfield, Missouri.

As R.J. Anderson writes at CBS Sports:

“Windish hit a grand slam in the third inning to kick off his personal home run derby. He added a two-run shot in the fifth, and then another two-run shot in the seventh. Windish would put a bow on his night by launching one last home run, a solo blast, in the ninth inning. In other words, he fell a single baserunner short of hitting for the proverbial ‘home-run cycle.’ “

Windish’s 4-HR game is the first in the Texas League since 2022, when Chandler Redmond became the second known minor-leaguer to hit for the “home run cycle” with the Springfield Cardinals. Springfield’s Tyrone Horne was the first player to accomplish that feat in 1998.

Windish was drafted by the Mariners in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB amateur draft from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
