The Baseball Research Journal for 2007 is being talked about on various blogs across cyberspace.

From the lead article by John Thorn (“Pots & Pans and Bats & Balls”) made available at the author’s blog “Thorn Pricks,” to mentions of an article on third-base coaches (“The Traffic Directors”) by Dan Fox and Neal Williams at the blog “A Hundred Next Years,” to a discussion of Victor Wang’s “How Much is a Top Prospect Worth?” at Yanks Fan vs. Sox Fan, the word is being spread about the interesting reading contained in the final issue under the editorship of SABR Publications Director Jim Charlton.

Other articles include “The Evolution of Japanese Baseball Strategy” by Robert K. Fitts, “An Analysis of the Gyroball” by Alan Nathan and David Baldwin, and “Early Wrigley Field” by Ron Selter.

Todd Peterson and Roberta Newman contribute articles that were funded by Yoseloff-SABR Baseball Research Grants. Peterson’s “Can You Hear the Noise?” looks back at the 1909 St. Paul Gophers, a segregated team that won more than 400 games in five years. Newman looks at advertising and race in her article “Pitching Behind the Color Line.”

Baseball Research Journal 2007 can be ordered from the University of Nebraska Press, 1-800-755-1105 (U.S. Orders), or http://www.nebraskapress.unl.edu.
