Peterson: SABR member Niese’s book chronicles the life of Andy Pafko

From Ben Peterson at The Chippewa Herald (Wisconsin) on February 12, 2015, on SABR member Joe Niese:

Joe Niese admits he ran into some bumps in the road in trying to self publish his latest book.

The director of the Chippewa Falls Public Library and author of “Burleigh Grimes: Baseball’s Last Legal Spitballer” set up a kickstarter campaign to fund his new project focusing on the life and career of Boyceville native Andy Pafko.

“After about a week I ran into kind of a dead end with reaching out to family and friends,” Niese said. “I started reaching out to SABR (Society for American Baseball Research) members and I have access to the directory and I just blindly sent out hundreds of emails.

“People really responded to that, just complete strangers. That kind of says something about Andy Pafko and about his story.”

The book “Handy Andy: The Andy Pafko Story” has been released after a two-year process of research, writing and publishing.
