SABR Executive Director John Zajc Addresses International Sports Heritage Association

SABR Executive Director John Zajc was recently featured as keynote speaker for the joint conference of the International Sports Heritage Association (ISHA)/The North American Sport Library Network(NASLIN) held in SABR Executive Director John Zajc was recently featured as keynote speaker for the joint conference of the International Sports Heritage Association (ISHA)/The North American Sport Library Network(NASLIN) held in Memphis, November 1-3.  The event was hosted by ISHA vice-president and Redbirds GM Dave Chase at Autozone Park.  The event also featured baseball owner Mike Veeck.

Other conference highlights included panel discussions on topics ranging from techniques to selling and tracking ticket sales to strategies for working with local media. 

SABR members in attendance included Wayne Wilson representing the Amateur Athletic Foundation; Steve Gietschier of Sporting News; David Kelley of the Library of Congress; and Mike Gibbons of the Babe Ruth Museum.

In its 35th year, ISHA’s membership includes 120 sports heritage organizations from five continents and is dedicated to helping member institutions better preserve history and educate future generations on the importance of sport as history.

Founded in 1986, NASLIN’s goals are facilitate communication and resource sharing among sports librarians, archivists, and information specialists through conferences, educational programs and other cooperative projects.
