Saunders: One passionate man is determined to land Larry Walker in Hall of Fame

Manny Randhawa is on a mission to land Rockies great Larry Walker into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

It’s an admirable, albeit difficult, quest, but Randhawa is determined to see Walker honored in Cooperstown.

Thursday evening, Randhawa organized a “Walkerfest” at the Blake Street Tavern near Coors Field. Randhawa, a board member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) and a Rockies writer for, provided a slideshow and reams of statistics in support of Walker’s bid. There were guest speakers — including former Dodgers GM Dan Evans, former Rockies broadcaster Wayne Hagin and myself — on hand to provide testimony and anecdotes.

The event was captured on video, with the idea of spreading the good word to Hall of Fame voters who have spurned Walker in the past.
