Save the Date: SABR Arizona Fall League Conference

After the World Series ends, you won’t have to wait until next season to get your baseball fix. SABR is planning to hold its third annual Arizona Fall League Conference on November 3-5, 2011, at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa in Mesa, Arizona.

The schedule is expected to include:

  • Four AFL games, including the premier Rising Stars Game on November 5 in Surprise, Arizona
  • Major League Alumni Awards Dinner: Roland Hemond will receive the AZMLA Legacy Award
  • A tour of the “Play Ball: The Cactus League Experience” museum exhibit
  • A tour of Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Research presentations and guest speakers

The Arizona Fall League was created by longtime SABR member Roland Hemond, 2011 recipient of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award. Nearly 1,900 Fall League alumni have reached the major leagues, including MVPs such as Josh Hamilton, Joe Mauer and Albert Pujols and Cy Young Award winners such as Roy Halladay, Chris Carpenter and Brandon Webb.
