Sean Lahman to serve as SABR’s Data Manager

SABR member Sean Lahman will serve as SABR’s Data Manager, taking over a post previously held by Ted Turocy.

Lahman will oversee SABR’s database projects, working with the volunteer community on new research, helping them to organize data collections and get new content integrated into SABR databases. He’ll also be responsible for maintaining existing collections and setting data standards. He had served as SABR’s Data Project Coordinator since 2011.

Lahman is a data watchdog reporter for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. He has served as an editor for a dozen sports reference books, including Total Baseball: The Official Encyclopedia of Major League Baseball and The ESPN Pro Football Encyclopedia. He also created the popular Lahman Baseball Database, an open source collection of baseball statistics. Lahman attended the University of Cincinnati and lives in Rochester, New York.
