Spigolon: West Georgia baseball legend honored by state legislature

An area baseball legend heard his name called again recently for his achievements – this time in the halls of power in his home state.

District 67 State Rep. Micah Gravley, R-Douglasville, recently led the Georgia House of Representatives in recognizing former Major League baseball player Taylor “T-Bone” Phillips with a resolution in the House chamber in Atlanta.

Phillips, a Douglasville native and Hiram resident, was the subject of House Resolution 651 to honor both his baseball achievements and his work in the community.

“I was proud to recognize Mr. Taylor Phillips for his accomplishments in baseball,” said Gravley, whose district includes parts of Douglas and Paulding counties.
