SABR members, vote for 2012 MLB GIBBY awards

SABR members will help get to decide who had the best performances of the 2012 baseball season in the 11th annual MLB.com Greatness in Baseball Yearly Awards.

The GIBBYs categories honor the best of 2012 in the following categories: Starting Pitcher, Rookie, Closer, Setup Man, Comeback Player, Manager, Postseason MVP, Top Play, Moment, Oddity, Walk-off, Fan Moment, Postseason Moment and Defensive Player of the Year.

The finalists in the Defensive Player of the Year category were selected by SABR, using traditional statistics and sabermetric analytics.

To cast your SABR vote in the 2012 GIBBYs:

1. Visit http://www.mlb.com/mlb/awards/y2012/gibbys/index.jsp?gate=true

2. Log in to your MLB.com account in the upper-right corner or register for a free account at MLB.com using your primary e-mail address on file with SABR. (See screenshot below for details.)

3. Vote for your top selections in any GIBBY category. The deadline to cast your SABR vote is 11:59 p.m. PST on Monday, November 19. You can still cast a fan vote without logging in through the end of the public voting period on MLB.com. 

SABR members will have the opportunity to play a key role in selecting the winners of the GIBBYs. The votes from SABR members will be equal to each of the other four categories.

The winners will be announced at a reception at the annual Baseball Winter Meetings, which will be held December 3-6, 2012, in Nashville, Tennessee.
