Gus Bell and Sal Maglie Clowning in Locker Room

Description

A slide of a black-and-white photograph of Gus Bell and Sal Maglie clowning in the Polo Grounds locker room. Bell is wearing a Pittsburg Pirates road uniform. Maglie, whose name is on the back of the photograph, is wearing a New York Giants home uniform. Both are shown waist-up, with Bell on the right being choked by Maglie, who is on the left. Maglie has both hands around Bell's neck. Bell is faking not being able to breathe while Maglie is smiling. Bell hit a short home run off the right field foul pole against Maglie to end his scoreless streak at 45 innings, only four outs short of tying the record held at the time by Carl Hubbell.
