Ty Cobb Sliding into Third Base at Hilltop Park
Description
A slide of a black-and-white photograph of Ty Cobb sliding into third base at Hilltop Park. Cobb is leaning to his right with his right wrist and forearm on the ground. His left hand is reaching out in front of him. A New York Highlanders fielder wearing pinstripes is in the background running away from the play. Although the caption at the bottom of the slide indicates the picture was taken in 1910-1911, based on the Detroit Tigers’ road uniform details, this slide is from 1912 (the uniform collar is gray in the photograph; collar color was blue for road uniforms in both 1910 and 1911). Information written on the Physical slide reads, “1910”
