A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Bobb Thomson. The back of card number 47 in the set reads, "47 - Bobby Thomson Centerfielder - New York Giants Born : Glasglow, Scotland Oct. 25, 1923 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 6 : 2 Weight : 185 Bob was discovered by the Giants while playing at Curtis High School. He played part of the 1942 season with Rocky Mount in the Bi-State League and then entered military service. After three years he returned to baseball with Jersey City Giants of International League in 1946, alternating between third base and the outfield, and hitting 26 home runs to break Jersey City record of 18. At the end of the season he joined the Giants. Last year he was thier regular centerfielder and batted .283 in 1938 games, hitting 29 home runs.
