A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Jack Lohrke. The back of card number 16 in the set reads, "16 - Jack Lohrke Infielders - N. Y. Giants Born : Los Angeles, Cal. Feb. 25, 1924 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 5 : 11 1/2 Weight : 175 Jack is one of the luckiest boys in baseball. A telegram ordering him to report to San Diego from the Spokane team took him from the ill-fated bus in 1945 which overturned an hour later and killed many of the Spokane players. He missed disaster two other times. Opinion has it that he was one of the best players ever developed on the Pacific Coast. His average last year was .240.
