Mickey Mantle At Home With Wife Merlyn And Sons David and Mickey Jr.

Description

A slide of a black-and-white photograph of Mickey Mantle, his wife Merlyn, and their sons, Mickey Jr. and David. Everyone is wearing casual clothes, with Mickey and Mickey, Jr. in a shirt and jeans and Merlyn in a blouse and pants. The picture was taken in the backyard of the Mantle's home in River Edge, New Jersey, in June 1956. The adults sit in lawn chairs with David, who is less than a year old, sitting on Merlyn's lap. Mickey has his legs crossed, and Mickey Jr. is sitting on Mickey's foot with Mickey holding his hands. On the left of the picture is a partial view of a patio table with an umbrella, and the background is a fence and dense bushes. The photograph is similar to ones taken that day and credited to Ralph Morse, a Life magazine photographer.
