Ted Williams September 1959 Great Moments in Sports Magazine Cover

Description

A color slide of a full-length color image of Ted Williams on the September 1959 cover of Great Moments in Sports magazine. Williams is shown in the left-handed batter's box in a follow-through position after swinging, the tip of his left foot balanced behind him, the right foot turned on its side in front. "Boston" red lettering can be seen on the front of the Red Sox away uniform jersey. Red baseball stirrup socks are fully visible. His gaze is upward toward the outfield. The unidentified catcher kneels on his right knee, his glove held forward, mask high, anticipating the pitched ball. The unidentified umpire, garbed in a chest protector and mask, is crouched behind the catcher. The image from the first base side. On the grass in front of the third base side dugout are two unidentified players, one kneeling on one foot, the other with a baseball bat on his shoulder, possibly the on-deck and in-the-hole batters. The stadium stands are in the background, both at the ground level and higher up. Stadium girders are also seen above the stands. On the upper right of the magazine is printed "SEPT 50 cents. At the bottom of the magazine are three rectangular text boxes, blue, yellow, and red, showing articles in the magazine: "EXCITING HIGHLIGHTS FROM 12 WORLD SERIES", "BASEBALL'S BIGGEST DUEL TED WILLIAMS vs. GOMEZ", "ARCHIE MOORE'S GREATEST CHALLANGE", "THE BRUTAL GRAZIANO - ZALE FIGHT", "EXCLUSIVE: JOE ADCOCK, RICHIE ASHBURN, JOHN THOMAS, BOB TURLEY, NEWCOMBE, ELSTON HOWARD, ED MATHEWS". The following is written on the physical slide, "Ted Williams".
