Ted Williams’ First Baby Picture

Description

A slide of a black-and-white photograph of Ted Williams as an infant. Williams is being held in his father's arms. Ted Williams is facing the camera and bundled, wearing a lacy skullcap. His father, Samuel, is wearing a vest and tie, with his face turned toward the camera and a pipe protruding from the left side of his mouth. The photo is included in Ted Williams' autobiography, "My Turn at Bat: The Story of My Life." The book credits the photo to "Author's Collection." The full caption, only partially visible in the slide, reads, "My dad held me for my first picture. He was only an occasional pipe smoker, something I never tried." Information written on the physical slide reads, "My Turn at bat."
