Description

The photograph is from the upper deck on the third base side of the field. The infield shift configuration was named the Dyer Defense after St. Louis Cardinals manager Eddie Dyer. Cardinals infield has three players on the right side, from left to right Whitey Kurowski, Red Schoendienst, and Stan Musial. The lone infielder on the left side of the infield is Marty Marion. The pitcher and catcher are Howie Pollet and Joe Garagiola. The umpires include Lee Ballanfant behind home plate, Cal Hubbard at first base, and Al Barlick at second base. The Boston Red Sox third base coach is Del Baker.
