Babe Ruth Bats Against Boston

Description

A black-and-white slide of an action photo of Babe Ruth taking a swing in a game at Fenway Park in Boston. The photo is taken from behind home plate, slightly from the right, and shows Ruth wearing the road uniform of the New York Yankees. He is in the left-handed batter's box and is following through on his swing, his bat horizontal and pointing to the right. His body is uncoiled, and the rear of his body from his head to his thighs, face the camera. His right leg, with his right foot planted in the dirt, is in front of his left, with his left foot at a 45-degree angle with his toes in the ground. An unknown Boston catcher crouches behind home plate and to the left of Ruth. An unidentified umpire, his knees slightly bent, stands behind and partially obscures the catcher. On the far right, an unidentified Boston pitcher follows through on the mound, his left leg pointed to third base and his right leg cut off by the crop of the photo. In the background and out of focus, an infielder's head appears to the right of Ruth's cap. Also in the background are signs on the outfield wall with advertisements for coffee and cake. Information previously in this description field indicated this was from the 1926 World Series
