Dave Wilkie
/in /by adminDave Wilkie grew up in the ‘70s and ‘80s in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, idolizing Willie “Stretch” McCovey and the San Francisco Giants. Summers were spent at his grandparents in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he and his younger brother Wyatt took up residence at Candlestick Park. His obsession with Negro League baseball and its players can be traced to a 1983 mail order purchase of the book, The All-Time All-Stars of Black Baseball, by James A. Riley. He now lives in Youngstown, Ohio with his wife, Lillian and their three children, Zachary, Keona, and Monte. He now only sees his beloved Giants once a year when he makes the one-hour drive to Pittsburgh once a year. He’s been a SABR member since 2010 and this is his first profile written for SABR’s BioProject.
