Doug Welch

Doug Welch wrote and edited newspapers for more than 30 years in Southern Wisconsin. He is the author of 2014’s The Ashippun Trap: A Novel of Baseball and the Milwaukee Braves Final Season. In 2015 he published A History of Milton College Football and collaborated with Arcadia Publishing to author an Images of America series photo book focusing on his hometown of Milton, Wisconsin. Welch is the president of the Milton College Preservation Society and assistant director of the Milton House Museum, a National Historic Landmark and documented National Underground Railroad site. A baseball enthusiast, Welch has played for or managed amateur baseball teams his entire adult life. He is the manager of the Milton Raptors adult amateur baseball team and was named Rock River League Manager of the Year in 2012.
