Michael Rinehart

Michael Rinehart was born and raised in Southern California into a diehard Boston Red Sox family. His interest in baseball began at an early age. However, it wasn’t until he opened his first pack of baseball cards (which he got from his Little League coach) did his passion for the game’s history begin. Rinehart was 6 years old during the summer of 1998, in the midst of the McGwire-Sosa home-run chase, when he traded his toys for baseball cards. He learned the history of the national pastime through baseball cards and memorabilia as his collection began to grow. As a youngster he lived just one city over from the Lake Elsinore Storm, his eyes were opened to the wide world of minor-league baseball, and he fell in love with the intimate atmosphere and cozy confines of small-town ballparks. With far less information available on the history of minor leagues, he plunged into research and has been soaking in all the neat stories and tales from the minors ever since. The bulk of his research has been focused on the California League, where he worked closely with the league historian to develop www.CaliforniaLeagueHistory.com to share research and the league’s history.
