Allan Roth Chapter meeting recap – 10/1/2011
About thirty members of the Allan Roth Chapter met on Saturday, October 1, at the LA84 Foundation Library from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. The first hour was spent visiting with former Dodgers first baseman Wes Parker, who had so much fun at SABR 41 that he asked to visit with us again.
Former SABR Executive Director Morris Eckhouse joined us, as well, as he was in town in preparation for the “Shots Heard ‘Round the World” panel discussion at LA84 on October 4. We turned on the playoffs during our lunch break, then after lunch, elected Barry Mednick as the chapter president by acclamation. Al Parnis remains as vice-president.
Ron Selter updated his earlier reports on bounce home runs, then we closed with our annual book auction (normally held in the spring), which raised $153 for the chapter while finding new homes for lots of homeless baseball books.
