Buck O’Neil/North Florida Chapter meeting recap – 6/3/2026
SABR’s North Florida Buck O’Neil Chapter held its monthly meeting on June 3, 2026, at Dave’s Pizza Garage in Tallahassee, Florida. In attendance:

President Hudson started the meeting by asking members to be mindful of the food, service, equipment, and other elements of the venue as the Chapter seeks to find a stable location that suits the Chapter’s needs for monthly meetings. He then provided an update on local teams and their respective seasons.
Chuck Rosciam provided an update on the prediction contest, with John Dew and Ben Gaddis currently in the lead.
President Hudson announced that Rick Swaine is being presented with the SABR Baseball Research Award for his work (along with Gary C. Fink) on the book The Integration of Minor League Baseball, A History and Player Register, 1946–1959. The SABR Baseball Research Awards honor those whose outstanding research projects completed during the preceding calendar year have significantly expanded our knowledge or understanding of baseball.
President Hudson shared some background on Rick’s baseball history and introduced Rick. Rick made a presentation about the book and answered Chapter members’ questions.
As it has on many occasions, the meeting concluded with not only regular trivia, courtesy of Chuck, but also Hall of Fame trivia.
SABR 54 (July 29-August 2) was discussed and it appears there will be a good Chapter turnout in Cleveland for the convention. Due to the convention being in July, there will not be a July Chapter meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
