Beyond the Box Score added to selection process for SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards

We are pleased to include the sabermetric website Beyond the Box Score in the selection process for the 2014 SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards, which honor the best works of original analysis or commentary during the preceding calendar year.

The SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards were established in 2013 to honor baseball researchers in the following categories:

  • Contemporary Baseball Analysis: Honoring the best analysis focusing on a subject related to the modern game(s), team(s) or player(s).
  • Contemporary Baseball Commentary: Honoring the best commentary focusing on a subject related to the modern game(s), team(s) or player(s).
  • Historical Baseball Analysis/Commentary: Honoring the best original analysis or commentary focusing on a subject related to a game(s), team(s) or player(s) throughout baseball history.

Nominations are solicited by representatives from SABR, Baseball Prospectus, FanGraphs, The Hardball Times, and Beyond the Box Score, and sent to Jacob Pomrenke at the SABR office. SABR chooses the final 3-5 nominees in each category, from the list submitted by each group. Voting for the winners is conducted online at SABR.org, BaseballProspectus.com, FanGraphs.com, HardballTimes.com, and BeyondtheBoxScore.com, with results weighted equally at 20%.

To submit a nomination for the 2014 awards, send an e-mail to this address: 2014-analytics-awards@sabr.org. Include author, title, date of publication and a URL link (if applicable). For full criteria and details, click here.

Results will be announced and presented at the third annual SABR Analytics Conference, March 13-15, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.
