All baseball fans are invited to join SABR’s Forbes Field Chapter at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, for the unveiling of a historical marker at the location of home plate for Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh.
The marker will be dedicated inside Gold Lot 1A, next to PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Three Rivers Stadium served as the team’s home from 1970 to 2000, and was the site of many significant baseball milestones, including Roberto Clemente’s 3,000th career hit, Pirates World Series championships in 1971 and 1979, and the 1994 MLB All-Star Game.
The marker was funded in part through the SABR Local Grants program.
