Orr, Searle, Dubuque, Mains win 2024 SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards

2024 SABR Analytics Conference

Congratulations to Robert Orr, Ginny Searle, Patrick Dubuque, and Rob Mains, winners of the 2024 SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards. They were recognized in an awards ceremony during the SABR Analytics Conference on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Orr was voted as the winner of the Contemporary Baseball Analysis Award for his article “Quantifying the Corey Seager Approach,” published by Baseball Prospectus on November 8, 2023.

Searle was voted as the winner of the Contemporary Baseball Commentary Award for her article “The Wrong Lessons Learned,” published by Baseball Prospectus on June 16, 2023.

Dubuque was voted as the winner of the Historical Baseball Analysis/Commentary Award for his article “The Other Aging Curve,” published by Baseball Prospectus on January 31, 2023.

Mains was voted as the winner of the John Dewan Defensive Analytics Award for his article “Fielding, It Turns Out, Does Slump,” published by Baseball Prospectus on August 29, 2023.

The SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards recognize baseball researchers who have completed the best work of original analysis or commentary during the preceding calendar year.



Voting for the winners was conducted online from February 1-9, 2024, at SABR.org, BaseballProspectus.com, FanGraphs.com, and IBWAA.com, with results weighted equally at 25%.
