SABR 42: List of Speakers

Here is a list of expected speakers for SABR 42, June 27-July 1, 2012, at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center, 30 South 7th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55402. Please note that all events are subject to change.

  • John Thorn, Official Historian, Major League Baseball
  • Roland Hemond, three-time MLB Executive of the Year
  • Roy Smalley III, All-Star shortstop and 13-year veteran, 1975-87
  • Bob “Rocky” Johnson, 11-year veteran infielder with seven MLB teams, 1960-70
  • Bill Davis, two-sport star at University of Minnesota and Indians/Padres infielder, 1965-69
  • Ron Coomer, All-Star infielder who spent six of his nine MLB seasons with the Twins, 1995-2003
  • Frank Quilici, a former Twins infielder, manager and radio broadcaster
  • Dorothy Seymour Mills, SABR member and co-author of the groundbreaking “Baseball” series
  • Leslie Heaphy, Negro Leagues historian, chair of SABR Women in Baseball Research Committee, and SABR director
  • Cecilia Tan, SABR Publications Editor, co-editor of Baseball Prospectus Annual, founder of Circlet Press
  • Laura Day, Executive Vice President, Business Development, Minnesota Twins
  • Stew Thornley, Minnesota Twins official scorer, author, past president of SABR Halsey Hall Chapter 
  • David Vincent, Washington Nationals official scorer, home run expert, 1999 SABR Bob Davids Award winner
  • Gregg Wong, Minnesota Twins official scorer, retired reporter at St. Paul Pioneer Press, 1969-2002

Register at the SABR Store: Special for 2012, we’re offering an all-inclusive rate of $219 (SABR members) or $269 (non-members) for SABR 42 . The all-inclusive rate includes full registration to all convention panels and presentations, one ticket to the Awards Banquet on Friday, June 29 and one Home Plate View ticket to the Twins vs. Royals game on Friday, June 29.
